The Assistant Director in the Roblox experience Valley Prison (developed by Valley Prison / gergo) serves as the second-in-command within the Department of Corrections (DoC). Positioned directly beneath the Director in the prison's administrative hierarchy, players in this role function as high-ranking staff members responsible for overseeing facility operations, assisting the warden, and managing inmate conduct across the grounds.
Because the role carries administrative authority and premium facility access without locking the player into dedicated station duties, it offers significant roaming freedom throughout the facility.
Unlock Requirements and Core Stats
Unlike entry-level DoC positions such as Correctional Officer or Janitor, the Assistant Director requires substantial progression before it can be selected in the team menu.
| Attribute | Specification |
|---|---|
| Required Level | Level 45 |
| Team / Department | Department of Corrections (DoC) |
| Health Points (HP) | 100 HP |
| Stamina | 100 Stamina |
| Team Sub-Ranks | None (No progression ranks) |
| Team Balancing | Automatically balanced based on server player count |
Unlike roles like Medical Staff or Correctional Officer that feature multiple internal promotional tiers (such as Cadet up to Captain), the Assistant Director has no job experience ranks. Server slots for the team are dynamically restricted and scale depending on how many players are present in a public server.
Assistant Director Equipment and Loadout
The Assistant Director receives high-tier security clearance and a practical set of defense and utility items upon spawning.
- G17 Sidearm: Standard-issue semi-automatic firearm for lethal defense against aggressive or escaping inmates.
- Directors Keycard: Provides clearance through high-security checkpoints and administrative doors across the facility.
- Baton: Non-lethal melee weapon used to deter unruly prisoners or administer short stuns.
- OC Spray (Pepper Spray): Non-lethal defensive tool designed to impair vision and subdue hostile inmates without dealing fatal damage.
- Flashlight: Handheld light source for patrolling darkened corridors, basements, or maintenance areas.
- Notepad: A roleplay utility item carried by administrative and supervisory staff.
- Medical Gloves: Standard sanitary equipment issued to administrative personnel.
Handcuffs were briefly granted to the Assistant Director in the October 9, 2024 update, but they have since been removed following the Revamp. Furthermore, the Assistant Director does not receive the Director's Tablet; features such as triggering facility-wide riot or lockdown klaxon alarms remain exclusive to the full Director.
Office Location and Spawn Point
Assistant Directors spawn directly in the Directors Offices suite.
- Building Level: Floor 2 of the Corrections Building.
- Nearby Landmarks: Adjacent to the Janitor's Closet and Correctional Officer Lockers.
- Layout: The office suite includes small cubicles equipped with computers, individual private office rooms for the Director and Assistant Director, and storage rooms.
- Security & Items: As implemented in update V2.5.66, the Director and Assistant Director offices feature dedicated spawn protection barriers to prevent hostile inmates or escapees from spawn camping administrative staff. A spare Directors Keycard and Book can also be found within the office area.
In terms of appearance, the Assistant Director wears the same formal uniform as the Director: a tailored blue blazer layered over a black jumper, a white collared long-sleeve shirt with a necktie, black trousers, and a wristwatch.
The Auto Director Promotion Mechanic
The Assistant Director acts as the natural line of succession for facility leadership. Under the Auto Director system introduced in the November 26, 2025 update:
- If the active Director leaves the game server, the system automatically checks all currently deployed Assistant Directors.
- The game identifies the Assistant Director with the highest recorded server playtime during that session.
- The server immediately sends an in-game prompt offering that specific player the promotion to become the new Director.
This succession mechanic allows dedicated Assistant Directors to step into the Director role (which normally requires Level 70 to select directly from the menu) and take control of the Director's Tablet and emergency alarm controls.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Assistant Director trigger prison lockdown alarms?
No. The alarm interface is built into the Director's Tablet, which is not included in the Assistant Director loadout. Only the Director has access to the tablet's emergency alarm panel.
Does the Assistant Director have access to handcuffs?
No. While handcuffs were temporarily added to the role during an update in late 2024, they were removed with the Revamp. Restraints are reserved for field law enforcement and standard correctional officers.
How do you get promoted to Director while playing as an Assistant Director?
If the server's Director disconnects or leaves the game, the server checks the playtime of all active Assistant Directors. The player with the highest playtime on that server receives a prompt to accept the Director position.
